HGA is looking for a business to rent the second floor of the Train Station for office space. The rent is $1150 per month and there is approximately 1160 square feet of area. Open House Event- Saturday, May 6
HGA will have an Open House for the First Fire House and the Georgetown Train Station on Saturday, May 6 from noon to 2 PM. Come tour this historic buildings, view the displays, enjoy the model trains and let the kids enjoy rides on Lil Toot. There is no admission charge.
HGA Celebrates 30 Years
Historic Georgetown Association is celebrating its 30th anniversary of service to our community in 2023. In the Spring of 1993, Carlton Moore, Toby Givens, Martin Donovan and other civic leaders decide to form HGA for the purpose of assisting town leaders in preserving Georgetown's past while looking forward to the future. Join us at any of our upcoming events this year as we celebrate 30 years.
Large crowd comes to final week of Christmas at the Train Station
Turnout was very strong for the final week of Christmas at the Train Station. Adults and children enjoyed the singing by some members of the Grace Methodist Church choir led by Dan Stabler, the model trains, great buffet an, of course, Santa himself.
Nice turnout for the first week of
HGA members saw a nice turnout on a rainy Saturday, December 3, for "Christmas at the Train Station". Children enjoyed Santa and everyone enjoyed the museum displays, model trains, and refreshments. Everyone is invited the next two Saturdays (12/10 from Noon to 2 PM and 12/17 from 5-7 PM) for additional Christmas enjoyment. A car show provided by County Seat Cruisers will be an added enjoyment on Saturday, December 10 from 10 AM to 2 PM. Admission is free and all are invited. A nice buffet by Marilyn's Catering will be available on Saturday, December 17 from 5-7 PM.
Return Day Open Houses were a big hit!
HGA collaborated with the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce to hold an Open House at the Georgetown train Station on Thursday, November 10. A large number of people stopped by to celebrate Return Day and enjoy a delicious brunch provided by "My Turn to Cook". HGA is proud to have been a part of helping to revive and preserve the Return Day celebration.

Please join HGA in celebrating this sacred and joyous time of year for "Christmas at the Train Station" The dates are: Saturday December 3 and 10 from Noon to 2 PM and Saturday December 17 from 5 to 7 PM. Santa will be there to give out gifts to the kids, light refreshments will be available, Christmas music will fill the air, and visitors can enjoy the model trains and museum pieces. Georgetown's First Fire House will also be open across the street for visitors to enjoy. Visitors can also enjoy a car show next to Georgetown's First Fire House on the HGA complex on 12/10 from 10 Am to 2 PM. There is no charge and all are welcome. On Saturday, December 17 from 5-7 PM, visitors can enjoy a buffet provided by Marilyn's Catering. Come join us!
HGA Founder Carlton R. Moore, Sr., passes away.
Historic Georgetown Association Founder, Carlton R. Moore, Sr. passed peacefully at his home on Monday, September 19. Carlton formed the organization in 1993 and was involved until recent years. Services will be at St. Johns Methodist Church near Georgetown on Friday, September 23. Visitation from 9 AM to 11 AM with a graveside service at 11 AM. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Georgetown Train Station complex at noon located at 140 Layton Avenue.
Many people gather to remember Toby Givens
A Celebration of Life was held at the Historic Georgetown Association complex on Saturday, September 3. Approximately 130 friends and family gathered to honor the life of HGA Charter member, Ralph A. "Toby" Givens. HGA appreciates the Givens family requesting that this Celebration of Life be held at the complex where Toby had been involved since 1993. He will always be remembered and a plaque was placed in the garden area of the Train Station honoring Toby for his years of service to HGA.

Historic Georgetown Association had its 1st Annual Car Show in cooperation with the County Seat Cruisers on Saturday, September 10.
Station 77 celebrates 100th Anniversary of La France fire truck
On Saturday, August 27, 2022, members and supporters of the Georgetown Fire Company Station 77, along with HGA, celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the delivery of the first motorized fire fighting truck to the Georgetown Train Station. The new La France fire truck arrived by train to the Georgetown Train Station of August 26, 1922. Several pictures are here for your enjoyment. They were taken in front of the First Fire House on the HGA complex. HGA is proud to support Station 77 in their dedicated efforts to keep our area safe.
